East Lothian Development Support Project
The East Lothian Development Support Project was established in March 2001 and is funded by East Lothian Council.
There are four key aims to the Project:
There are three full-time TIS staff based in the offices of East Lothian Tenants and Residents Panel; a Development Worker, an Outreach Worker and an Administrative Officer.
ELTRP and local groups set the work priorities for the East Lothian team. To make sure these priorities are being delivered, the Project is monitored in a partnership approach with representatives from ELTRP, TIS and East Lothian Council meeting quarterly to discuss progress.
Cathie McArthur, Chair of ELTRP says "With support received from TIS and East Lothian Council we have been able to make real change possible.
We also need the support of all tenants and residents - please communicate with us to help us improve further!"
James Coutts, Service Development Manager for Community Housing, East Lothian Council, says; " I am delighted with the high quality approach and professionalism of TIS staff in delivering the development and administrative support needs of East Lothian Tenants and Residents Panel, and other tenants groups, to a level that meets and often exceeds the agreed standards."

South Lanarkshire Tenant Development Support Project has been providing services to the tenants of South Lanarkshire Council since September 2002.
Based in Hamilton we work on an outreach basis covering a largely rural area of 177,116 hectares holding 30,000 tenancies. Our task is to support the development of tenant activity throughout this area.
Our work aims to assist tenants to organise, influence and work with their landlord to collectively improve housing services, conditions and policies.
This is done through:
The work of the Project is guided, monitored and reviewed by a group of 12 tenants (collectively known as the Project Monitoring Group). Representing each region in South Lanarkshire - they ensure the services we deliver meet tenant needs.
We are funded by South Lanarkshire Council until May 2009.

The North Lanarkshire Tenants and Residents Development Support Project was set up in partnership with the Coatbridge Federation of Tenant and Resident Associations, the North Lanarkshire Council and the Tenants Information Service.
Our aim is to further develop tenant involvement in housing and related issues across the whole of North Lanarkshire.
We are a team of tenants, residents and professionals. The project has a Project Monitoring Group, which consists of tenants and resident representatives from across all of North Lanarkshire. Our project is very much run by members of the community for the community.
We are independent and provide development support, such as training, advice, and support. We assist with all aspects of housing, from starting a new tenants group, running an efficient meeting, writing a constitution, fundraising, to getting landlords to listen.
We also work at a strategic level to improve the quality of tenant participation throughout North Lanarkshire. This includes assisting in the development of codes of practise, structures, and guides to improve Tenant Participation and assisting in the implementation of the Tenant Participation Strategy.
Our work has four key areas:
